A long, dramatic wrap that frames a textured bobble border around a rhythmic lace-chevron body. Worked flat in two matching sections and joined invisibly for a seamless finish; easy to memorise and satisfying to block to a generous drape.
What you’ll make
A rectangular wrap with a bobble border leading into an all-over lace chevron fabric, finished by grafting the two halves together at centre.
Sizing/Measurements
Approx. 55 cm × 236 cm after blocking.
Yarn
Chunky/bulky weight (12-ply). Approx. 480 m total.
Needles & notions
6 mm knitting needles. Stitch holder (or waste yarn) for live stitches. Tapestry needle for grafting and weaving in ends.
Tension (gauge)
15 stitches × 21 rows = 10 cm over stocking stitch, worked flat, after light blocking on 6 mm needles.
Yarn suggestions
Recommended yarn: West Yorkshire Spinners Re:Treat Chunky Roving.
Also suitable: Stylecraft Special Chunky (UK); King Cole Big Value Chunky (UK); Cascade 128 Superwash (USA/Canada); Malabrigo Mecha (USA/International); Bendigo Woollen Mills 12 Ply Classic (Australia); Ashford Tekapo 12 ply (New Zealand).
Always swatch to meet gauge; adjust needle size if required.
Construction notes
Cast on and work the bobble border; transition into the chevron body. Work a second identical section. Join live stitches to held stitches by grafting (Kitchener stitch) for an invisible centre seam. Block to measurements.
Skill level
Adventurous beginner to intermediate: basic increases/decreases, yarn overs, simple centred double-decrease, bobbles, and grafting.
