Men's Lattice and Cable Front Sweater — DK
A relaxed, classic pullover with a textured lozenge-and-cable front, rib-pattern back, and set-in long sleeves, finished with a ribbed neckband.
What you’ll make: A loose-fitting, long-sleeved sweater with a patterned front panel, rib-pattern back, and ribbed neck finish.
Sizing / Measurements: To fit chest 96(102,107)cm / 38(40,42)in. Actual chest 114(124,134)cm / 45(49,53)in. Length to shoulders 69cm / 27¼in. Sleeve seam 51cm / 20in.
Yarn: Double Knitting (DK) yarn (smooth, well-defined yarn recommended; wool-rich or wool/acrylic blends work well). 11(12,13) × 50g balls.
Needles & notions: 3¼mm (No10) needles, 4mm (No8) needles, cable needle, stitch holders (or spare needles), tapestry needle.
Tension (gauge): 24 stitches and 34 rows to 10cm/4in over rib pattern on 4mm needles. 28 stitches and 34 rows to 10cm/4in over lozenge pattern on 4mm needles.
Recommended yarn: Rowan Baby Cashsoft Merino (DK), 11(12,13) × 50 g balls.
Also suitable (currently available): West Yorkshire Spinners ColourLab DK, Stylecraft Special DK, DROPS Karisma, Rowan Softyak DK, Debbie Bliss Rialto DK, Zealana Rimu DK, Knit Picks Swish DK.
Construction notes: Worked flat in separate pieces, then seamed. Front uses a 32-row lozenge-and-cable repeat with yarn overs, slip-and-pass decreases, and cable-cross twists using a cable needle. Armholes and neck are shaped; sleeves are increased to width then shaped at the cap. Ribbed neckband is folded to the wrong side and slipstitched into place.
Skill level: Intermediate (cables, shaped neck/armholes, pattern repeat tracking).
