Super-oversized raglan cardigan in textured “knit-one-below” fabric
What you’ll make: A loose, thigh-length cardigan with deep raglan shaping, wide front bands, and a fold-back faced collar; dense drape and vertical texture from knit-one-below fabric.
Sizing / Measurements: Fits bust 86–102 cm (34–40 in); garment: bust 201 cm (79½ in), length to shoulders 72 cm (28½ in), sleeve seam 15 cm (6 in).
Yarn (fibre mix & weight): Chunky / bulky (≈12-ply) wool–acrylic blend, ~25% wool / 75% acrylic; 50 g balls (approx. 31 balls for the single size shown).
Recommended yarn: Rowan Brushed Fleece (65% wool / 30% alpaca / 5% polyamide), 50 g; 31 × 50 g balls.
Also suitable (currently available): Hayfield Bonus Chunky (chunky, 100% acrylic), Hayfield Bonus Chunky Tweed (chunky, 96% acrylic / 4% viscose).
Needles & notions: 5½ mm and 6 mm needle pairs; 5½ mm circular; markers; tapestry needle.
Tension (gauge): 13 sts × 30 rows = 10 cm (4 in) over pattern on 6 mm needles (swatch and adjust).
Construction notes: Pieces worked flat (back, left/right fronts, sleeves); raglans shaped with regular k3tog at each seam; borders worked separately with gradual increases and sewn on; collar assembled from three cast-on sections, joined with borders on circular needle, worked back-and-forth, then folded and stitched to form a neat facing.
