What you’ll make A coordinated set of motif-based homewares: a square cushion cover, two round cushion covers (small and large), and a lacy throw worked from join-as-you-go motifs with a decorative border, all in crochet cotton for crisp stitch definition and timeless texture.
Sizing / Measurements Square cushion 41 × 41 cm; large round cushion diameter 46 cm; small round cushion diameter 20 cm; throw shown approx. 137 × 187 cm (easily scalable by adding/removing motifs).
Yarn Crochet cotton, 50 g balls. Approximate usage: square cushion 3 balls; large round cushion 2 balls; small round cushion 1 ball; throw ~26 balls for the size shown (about 3 balls makes 2 motifs). Choose smooth cotton for clean edges and stable blocking.
Tension (gauge) One motif ≈ 17 cm across using a 2.00 mm hook; adjust hook to obtain size.
Recommended yarn: Rowan Summerlite 4ply — Yarn quantities (50 g balls): Square cushion 3; Large round cushion 2; Small round cushion 1; Throw 26 (approx. for 137 × 187 cm).
Also suitable (currently available): Scheepjes Catona 4ply, Stylecraft Naturals Cotton 4ply, Patons Grace, WeCrochet Curio #3, Bendigo Woollen Mills Cotton 4ply.
Needles & notions 2.00 mm crochet hook; cushion pads; narrow ribbon for lacing/trim; tapestry needle for finishing.
Construction notes Motifs are worked in rounds and joined as you go where indicated; borders add structure and drape. Cushion covers are made in two shaped pieces with an optional ribbon/button closure; the throw is assembled in rows of motifs with centre in-fill motifs and a continuous edging.
Skill level Confident beginner to intermediate: working in the round, picots, double/treble variations, cluster stitches, join-as-you-go assembly, simple finishing.
