Instant Digital Knitting Pattern PDF Download Women’s Super Chunky Textured Collar Sweater

A women’s super-chunky pullover worked flat in pieces, with a strong textured/openwork stitch pattern and simple, roomy shaping. The fabric is designed to be warm but not dense, with clean ribbed edges and a straightforward finish that suits both classic wool super-bulky yarns and easy-care acrylic blends, depending on the look you want.

What you’ll make: A women’s crew-neck sweater in super chunky / super bulky yarn with relaxed ease, straight body, full-length sleeves and a neat ribbed neckband.

Yarn: Super chunky [super bulky] yarn, ideally a lofty wool or wool-blend, or a good-quality acrylic super chunky with enough body to hold openwork texture.

Needles & notions: 8 mm (US 11) needles for the main fabric; 5.5 mm (US 9) needles for rib; stitch holders or waste yarn; tapestry needle for seaming.

Tension (gauge): Approx. 8 stitches to 3 in / 8 cm in main pattern on 8 mm needles (≈10 stitches per 10 cm); row gauge is less critical – work to the length measurements given.

Recommended yarn:

Rowan Big Wool.

Also suitable (currently available):

Stylecraft Special XL Super Chunky, King Cole Big Value Super Chunky, Sirdar Hayfield Bonus Super Chunky, James C. Brett Rustic Mega Chunky, West Yorkshire Spinners Retreat Super Chunky Roving, Wendy With Wool Super Chunky, Lion Brand Wool-Ease Thick & Quick, Malabrigo Rasta, DROPS Wish, Cleckheaton Country Wide.

Construction notes: Back and front are worked flat from the lower rib upwards in a repeated yarn-forward, slip 1, knit 1, pass slipped stitch over pattern, with shoulder and neck shaping worked from charts or row-by-row instructions; sleeves are knitted flat and seamed into generous armhole openings for a drop-shoulder look; neckband is picked up and worked in rib with a split collar detail.

Skill level: Confident beginner to intermediate – suitable for knitters comfortable with basic shaping, simple eyelet techniques (yarn forward, pass slipped stitch over) and mattress stitch seaming.
