Cardigan in Fisherman’s Rib

A classic, structured button-front cardigan worked in Fisherman’s Rib, with raglan sleeves, front pockets, and a ribbed neck and button band. The dense ribbed fabric creates a warm, durable garment with strong vertical texture and a traditional, practical character.

Sizing / fit
To fit bust 112 to 117 cm (about 44 to 46 in).

Yarn
Aran-weight 100 percent wool, approximately 78 m per 50 g.
Total required: about 1100 g.

Needles & notions
4 mm needles.
5 mm needles.
One long 4 mm circular needle for the neck band.
6 buttons.

Tension (gauge)
14.5 stitches and 32 rows to 10 cm, worked in pattern.

Recommended yarn: Rowan Tweed Haze.

Construction notes
Worked flat in pieces from the lower edge upwards. The back, fronts, and sleeves are shaped for raglan. Pocket linings are worked separately in garter stitch and finished with ribbed pocket bands. Stitches are picked up around the neckline for the ribbed neck and button band, with buttonholes worked into the right front.
