Shirt Neck & Crew Neck Aran Panel Sweaters (Raglan) – A classic aran-panel sweater pattern with two neckline options: a shirt neck with buttoned opening and collar, or a crew neck with ribbed neckband.
What you’ll make: Two sweater options worked with a central aran panel and textured side sections, shaped with raglan armholes; Shirt Neck version includes front opening borders, buttonholes, and a collar; Crew Neck version includes a picked-up rib neckband.
Sizes: To fit bust 86–112 cm (34–44 ins); finished size 97–122 cm (38–48 ins).
Finished length: 61–71 cm (24–28 ins).
Sleeve seam: 43–47 cm (17–18½ ins).
Yarn: Cable-friendly yarn that matches the stated tension; quantities are approximate and size-dependent. Shirt Neck: 19 (20 : 21 : 23 : 24 : 25) balls. Crew Neck: 18 (19 : 20 : 22 : 23 : 24) balls. (Ball size in the original is either 50 gm or 40 gm; choose your yarn by matching tension rather than ball weight.)
Needles & notions: 3¾ mm and 4½ mm knitting needles; cable needle; 3 buttons (shirt neck).
Tension (gauge): 24 stitches and 26 rows to 10 cm (4 ins) measured over pattern.
Recommended yarn: Rowan Pure Wool Superwash DK.
Shirt Neck Sweater: 19 (20 : 21 : 23 : 24 : 25) × 50 g balls.
