Jumper with Collar (4-ply) Digital Knitting Pattern (PDF)
A classic long-sleeve jumper with an all-over textured pattern, set-in sleeves, a shaped neckline, and a knitted collar finished with simple crochet edging at the hem.
What you’ll make: A fitted jumper with patterned body and sleeves, shaped armholes and shoulders, a shaped neck, and a separate knitted collar plus a picked-up knitted edging and a crochet lower-edge trim.
Yarn: 4-ply yarn. 4-ply wool (baseline) or wool/nylon blend for durability; acrylic 4-ply also works. Choose a yarn with clear stitch definition for best texture.
Needles & notions: One pair each of knitting needles size 5, 7, 9 and 11. One crochet hook size 11. Spare needle or stitch holder. Tapestry needle for sewing up. Blocking pins and pressing cloth.
Tension (gauge): 6 stitches and 8½ rows to 1 square inch over pattern on size 9 needles. 4½ stitches and 6 rows to 1 square inch over pattern on size 5 needles.
Recommended yarn: West Yorkshire Spinners Signature 4 Ply (100 g balls) — 4 (4, 4, 5, 5, 5) × 100 g balls.
Also suitable (currently available): Rowan Sock, Regia 4-ply, Opal 4-ply, DROPS Fabel, Sirdar Snuggly 4 Ply, Stylecraft Bambino 4 Ply, Malabrigo Sock.
Construction notes: Back and front are worked flat in a repeating 8-row pattern, with armholes shaped and shoulders cast off. Front neck is shaped with decreases, then the second side is worked to match. Sleeves are worked flat from the cuff up, increased to the upper arm, then shaped at the top. Collar is worked separately, then an edging is picked up and knitted around the neck. Lower edge is finished with a simple 3-round crochet trim. Finish with careful blocking/pressing appropriate to fibre (wool: warm iron over damp cloth; acrylic/synthetics: cool iron over dry cloth).
Skill level: Intermediate.
