A classic Aran-weight pullover with ribbed hems and a tidy crew neck, featuring structured twist panels through the body, Trinity-stitch sleeves, and embroidered wheatear motifs added after knitting.

What you’ll make: A knitted jumper worked flat in pieces (Back, Front, Sleeves), seamed, with a picked-up ribbed neckband and optional wheatear embroidery.

Yarn: Aran weight yarn (10-ply / worsted-aran), approx 850 g (900 g : 950 g) if using 50 g balls (based on 17 : 18 : 19 balls shown in the original pattern). If your yarn comes in different ball weights, match by total metreage/weight rather than ball count.

Needles & notions: 4 mm and 5 mm knitting needles; blunt-ended sewing needle; stitch holder or spare needle for held stitches; tapestry needle for embroidery; stitch markers optional.

Tension (gauge): 18 stitches and 24 rows to 10 cm [4 in] over stocking stitch using 5 mm needles. 24 stitches and 24 rows to 11 cm [4½ in] over Trinity pattern.

Recommended yarn: Stylecraft Special Aran — 9 (9 : 10) × 100 g balls.

Construction notes: Ribbed lower bands are worked first, then the body continues in the established twist/texture pattern with motif placement shifts as directed in the pattern; shoulders are cast off and the neck stitches are held; the Front is shaped for the neck; Sleeves are worked in Trinity pattern with increases, then sewn in; the Neckband is picked up and worked in rib; wheatear motifs are embroidered onto the finished garment.
