Women’s Aran Cable Sweater with Bobbles and Decorative Borders

A fitted, classic crew-neck sweater with bold cable panels, bobble accents, and a matching lace-effect border used at the neck, cuffs, and hem. The body and sleeves are worked flat in pieces, then seamed, with borders worked separately and sewn on.

What you’ll make: A long-sleeved, crew-neck sweater featuring cable panels, bobbles, moss stitch texture, shaped armholes, and a sewn-on patterned border at neck, cuffs, and lower edge.

Yarn: Aran / Heavy Worsted (Medium/4) yarn, wool or wool-blend recommended for stitch definition and resilience.

Needles & notions: 5½ mm (No. 5) knitting needles; cable needle; stitch holders/spare needle; tapestry needle for seaming; scissors; measuring tape.

Tension (gauge): 20 stitches and 26 rows to 10 cm, measured over stocking stitch on 5½ mm needles.

Construction notes: Worked flat in separate pieces (Back, Front, Sleeves). Armholes and shoulders are shaped with cast-offs and decreases. The neck opening is divided and shaped with neck-edge decreases. A separate 4-row repeating border is worked to length for the neck, cuffs, and hem, then sewn in place. Finishing is completed with seaming and sleeve setting-in.
