A light Double Knitting sweater with allover lace texture and a neat folded ribbed neckline, worked flat in pieces and seamed for a polished finish. This is a digital knitting pattern (PDF), not a finished garment.
What you’ll make:
A long-sleeved DK-weight pullover with repeating lace panels on body and sleeves, a straight silhouette with gentle ease, and a deep knit 1, purl 1 folded neckband that sits softly at the base of the neck. The fabric is airy but warm, making this an easy layering piece for everyday wear.
Sizing / fit:
To fit busts: 80, 85, 90, 95, 100, 105 cm (32, 34, 36, 38, 40, 42 in).
Approximate finished bust: 92, 102, 108, 113, 117, 120 cm (37, 39½, 41, 43½, 45¾, 47 in), designed for light to moderate ease over the stated body measurements.
Length to shoulder: approximately 61, 62, 63, 64, 65, 66 cm depending on size.
Sleeve length from cuff to underarm: approximately 45 cm.
Fit is a classic straight pullover with set-in sleeves and a comfortable, non-clingy feel through the body.
Yarn:
DK / 8-ply wool or wool-blend yarn.
Approximate quantity: 4 (4, 4, 5, 5, 5) x 100 g balls of DK for the six sizes listed.
Approximate total yardage: around 1,150–1,500 m (1,250–1,640 yds) of DK yarn, depending on size and yarn choice.
A smooth, standard DK with good stitch definition will show the lace pattern most clearly.
Needles & notions:
3.25 mm knitting needles, 4.5 mm knitting needles, stitch holders or waste yarn, yarn needle for seaming, optional markers and row counter.
Tension (gauge):
21 stitches and 28 rows to 10 cm (4 in) measured over stocking stitch [stockinette stitch] using 4.5 mm needles, worked flat and lightly blocked.
Matching this gauge is important to achieve the intended measurements and drape.
Recommended yarn:
King Cole Merino Blend DK (100% superwash wool, standard DK weight, approx. 22 sts × 28 rows to 10 cm on 4 mm needles).
Also suitable (currently available):
Sirdar Country Classic DK, Stylecraft Life DK, Rowan Pure Wool Superwash DK, Berroco Ultra Wool DK, Plymouth Encore DK, Bendigo Woollen Mills Classic 8-ply.
Construction notes:
Back, front and sleeves are all worked flat in rows from the lower rib upwards, then blocked and seamed.
The lace pattern is worked across the full width of the body and sleeves, with straightforward, repeating eyelet motifs.
The neckline is shaped on the front only; back neck stitches are held and joined into a deep ribbed neckband that is worked in knit 1, purl 1 rib, then folded to the inside and sewn down for a double-layer finish.
Sleeves are set into the armholes and side and sleeve seams are sewn for a stable, long-wearing garment.
The pattern is written line by line with rows clearly numbered, making it suitable for working from either printouts or a digital device.
Skill level:
Intermediate: suitable for knitters comfortable with working from written instructions, managing simple lace (yarn overs and basic decreases) within shaping, and seaming pieces neatly.
