What you’ll make: A classic Aran-weight cardigan with raglan sleeves, set-in Aran panels on body and sleeves, ribbed button bands with eight buttons, in-fabric pockets, and a shaped collar. Designed for crisp stitch definition and comfortable everyday wear.
Sizing / Measurements: To fit bust/chest 86–122 cm (34–48 ins). Actual garment 97–122 cm (38–48 ins). Length 61–71 cm (24–28 ins). Sleeve seam 43–47 cm (17–18½ ins).
Yarn: Aran-weight (worsted/10-ply). Recommended yarn: Rowan Kid Classic. Also suitable: any smooth Aran-weight wool or wool-blend with good cable definition.
Needles & notions: 3¼ mm and 4½ mm knitting needles; cable needle; 8 buttons; stitch holders/markers; tapestry needle.
Tension (gauge): 24 stitches × 26 rows = 10 cm [4 ins] over pattern using 4½ mm needles. Check your tension and adjust needle size if required.
Construction notes: Worked flat in pieces; pockets are worked as linings and faced; body and sleeves shaped for raglan armholes; collar is decreased for roll and sewn to neckline; button and buttonhole bands are worked separately and sewn on; seamed throughout.
